Bullfighting still goes on. I suppose it's no surprise to read that a matador called Álvaro Múnera Builes stopped fighting bulls after one of them broke his neck. A year or so ago I mentioned Melanie Reid on this comm. She's a journalist, now tetraplegic after an accident. Somebody has just reminded me about Ms Reid and I've found this link to an interview with her.

I've just watched 'ID Parade', Episode 2 of Series 1 of New Tricks. This dates from 2004 so I don't know whether it's available to view online but it was broadcast as a repeat. ( cut for spoilers )

I found episode 3 of Cast Offs difficult to watch because it's almost entirely negative. It's really a portrait of how disability can wreck lives. As we've been discussing here recently, is this something we want in portrayals of disability?( cut for spoilers )

Staff Benda Bilili is a group of Congolese street musicians, some of whom use wheelchairs. A report about them is online here. What I like is the emphasis on their music. Their 'extraordinary journey' is hyped but how they came to use wheelchairs isn't the focus. What do you think of them?
